Chez Moi - My Dining Room Completed

Well here finally is a completed room in my house. I say completed very loosely because I am constantly tweaking and I'm sure I'll redo that hutch any day now. But the paint, Svelte Sage by Sherwin-Williams is not changing any time soon. The curtains are ticking inspired, the hutch, table and chairs are all vintage or antique, as is the chandelier. I have vintage and new dishes and silver displayed in my hutch. The botanicals are repro from Ross and were a gift. The shag rug is from Target. The corner chairs are borrowed from a friend {who doesn't want them back} and everything else was bought second-hand, at Ross, thrifted, or found. Hope you enjoy!

My vintage farmhouse chairs

Centerpiece - books on entertaining and a cookbook/memoir of Van Gogh combined with topiaries (faux of course) and a great finial and vintage transferware covered bowl.

My teastained upholstered corner chairs. For instructions on tea-staining, click here

A little French Gilt.... a vintage frame from a cast-off oil painting and a vintage french postcard turned backward to see the french handwriting... circa 1920's

Ironstone platters on the wall

Oh, It looks so.so pretty. Don't you just love walking into that room and walking back into that room????? You've done a great job, and I love it all. Are you considering painting the back of the hutch....Rhoda at Southern Hospitality did beadboard in the back of a bookcase and it looked great. I'm thinking all your lovely white ware would show up better against a darker background. Just my thoughts out loud, but I do love it all....thanks for sharing!!

Hey Suzanne,
Thanks for the compliments! I have tried putting dark scrapbook paper in the back {less permanent than paint} but it seemed like so much brown, green, and white. I need to try a different scrapbook paper... another excuse to go shopping! I agree though - I will maybe try that and post pics next week! Thanks again for visiting!

Love it! Such a clean, crisp but inviting look you have created.

Of course I love the faux topiaries...;)

I'm in the midst of decorating my dining room too. I am really noticing your svelte sage paint. Do you like it in person? I'm thinking of something similar (lemon verbena) for my kitchen.

Thanks for showing us your beautiful room.

Beautiful! What color would you paint your hutch? It looks great the way it is. Love the plates/platters above the hutch.

Girl, I am dying here. Dying! Your dining room is gorgeous. It came together beautifully and perfectly. And of course I love that you were super frugal about all of it. Thanks for sharing.

I totally want to avoid the 10 piles of laundry and messy bedroom today and decorate something instead. Sigh.

As for the award, THANK YOU! What fun to get an award. This is my first.

Keep up the loveliness!

Kari, it turned out just fabulous! I do love your new table & I think those chairs are perfect. Your hutch filled with the ironstone and platters on the wall really finish it off. I do love it all, I don't think it could have come together any better.

I'm gonna get to working on my DR too & the red is going soon!

Oh I love it! It all looks so great. Love the white dishes in the hutch and the way you arranged the top of the hutch etc. Your centerpiece on your table is very unique. I love the soft colors and vintage feel of the room. You did a great job. Thanks for sharing your pretty room!

Your dining room is beautiful! You pulled it together is such a classic way and kept it personal, too. Just lovely.

Thank you for the award. I have been working for hours on a new post and on passing on the award, and now I can't get it to publish! So frustrating.......I will try again tomorrow.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and for all the encouragement, inspiration and creativity you inspire in me. I appreciate so much your input and am glad you find the room pretty. I am already wanting to tweak with the centerpiece feeling it's too heavy with the topiaries but then I read comments like the ones you've left and I feel so wonderful and lucky. Thank you again so very much!

I LOVE IT! The chairs look beautiful, and I love the fabric! Where did you find it? Also love the table runner, the rug, everything.

Kari said...

Thank you all. Amber, I got the chairs complete with the fabric at a local shabby antique collective called Room With A Past (you can visit their website). I got the rug at Target and the table runner on super clearance at Pier 1.
